Job Summary
Coordinate unit care activities by scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling patient appointments based on provider availability and clinical guidelines. Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and referral requirements while maintaining accurate records in electronic health systems. Advocate for patients by relaying medical communications, resolving scheduling issues, and providing clear instructions regarding preparation and documentation. Manage telephone inquiries and order encounters to meet patient needs, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Work Monday through Friday with weekend rotations, supporting providers and care staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
- Monday- Friday as early as 7am and as late as 6:00pm
- With a weekend rotation of 6 weekends a year
Desired Qualifications
- One year of experience in customer service, patient registration, or other similar role in a healthcare setting preferred
- Medical Terminology knowledge is preferred
