Job Summary
Unit Coordinator in the Emergency Department (per diem) performs clerical and patient-flow coordination duties including maintenance of ED medical records, entering charges and orders, transcription of physician orders, inventory and supply management, appointment and discharge logistics, and coordination of ambulances/transport. Requires medical terminology knowledge, proficiency with Meditech order entry and charge screens, strong multitasking and professional written/spoken communication, ability to work calmly in a high-stress environment, and the ability to interact with patients and staff to ensure efficient registration, documentation, and care processes. This role supports patient access, reception duties, and coordination of department operations, with varied hours based on operational needs and per diem staffing.
