Job Summary
Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors while acting as a key communicator with clinicians and other departments. Use computers to collect data, distribute mail, photocopy, and answer phones. Develop and maintain systems for tracking information, format correspondence, and schedule appointments for patients. Ensure the nursing unit is adequately stocked with supplies and maintain clinical records in accordance with policy. Identify and prevent safety issues, taking corrective action as required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures
- Previous on-the-job computer word processing/spreadsheet experience
- Good data entry/keyboarding skills
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
- Ability to work effectively and safely when dealing with stressful situations
- Knowledge of Emergency Assistance Codes
- Completion of a recognized post- secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office software environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Experience working in a health care environment preferred
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year recent related clerical experience preferred
- Completion of a recognized post- secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office software environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
