Job Summary
Answer unit telephones, greet visitors, and screen calls according to departmental procedure. Transcribe physicians' orders, record and update patient records, and route information to appropriate staff while maintaining confidentiality. Operate office equipment and inventory supplies, completing purchase requisitions and managing daily reconciliation of patient charges. Respond to patient requests via intercom and arrange for medical tests, supplies, and dietary needs as ordered. Requires high school diploma, one year clerical experience, and computer proficiency. Physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs, frequent standing, and exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Shift work may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year previous clerical experience
- Experience with various personal computer software applications
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to carry objects up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to perform close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Must be able to work in an environment with blood-borne pathogen exposure
- Must be able to work in an environment with bio-hazardous waste
- Must be able to work in an environment with chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors
- Must be able to work in an environment with communicable diseases
- Must be able to work in an environment with electrical shock risk
- Must be able to work in an environment with floor surfaces
- Must be able to work in an environment with hot/cold temperatures
- Must be able to work in an environment with indoor/outdoor conditions
- Must be able to work in an environment with latex
- Must be able to work in an environment with lighting variations
- Must be able to work in an environment with patient care/handling injuries
