Job Summary
Manage clerical duties including computer data entry, medical record maintenance, and paper flow for admissions, transfers, and discharges. Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and coordinate visitor flow while answering phones and responding to patient call lights. Input orders for tests and procedures, verify completion, and assist with patient transportation and basic nursing care if certified. Ensure compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and report delays to the Charge RN. Work scheduled shifts including holidays, weekends, and on-call rotations, adhering to dress codes and confidentiality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call.
- Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.
- As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.
- Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization's standards/code of conduct.

- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have their current and valid C.N.A. license.
- Must have a basic understanding of Medical Terminology.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
- Ability to speak English, write legibly, and read, understand and follow directions.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
- Must fall into one of the following categories: (1) have successfully completed the Skills Lab and fundamentals of bedside care portion of their R.N. program; or (2) have their current and valid C.N.A. license.
- Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
- As needed, with active C.N.A certification, assist with delivering basic nursing care, utilizing policies and standards of care.
- Demonstrates the working knowledge of how to correctly complete forms including consents, transfers, deaths, AMA, Occurrence Reports, etc.
- Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
- Demonstrates adherence to 'National Patient Safety Goals for Hospitals' as defined by scope of practice.
- Documentation reflects compliance with established hospital policies and procedures.
