Job Summary
UniServ Director in Fairfax, VA supports 27,000 educational employees in negotiating their first collective bargaining agreement; assists local leadership in membership recruitment and retention, designs and delivers leader training, provides consultation on member rights and working conditions, and coordinates resources across the association. The role requires BA/BS (preferred), strong verbal and written communication, understanding of bargaining processes, proficiency with Microsoft Word, excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, conflict resolution, training development, program management, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities while acting as a self-starter. The position operates within the Fairfax County Public Schools system and is governed by applicable union agreements, with responsibilities spanning advocacy, legislative activity, and member support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a B.A. or B.S. degree preferred; equivalent of education and work experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated skills in developing strategies to foster positive change
- Successful work experience in public schools or associations advocating for public schools
- Political Awareness
- Understanding of the bargaining process and its components
- Demonstrable high-level knowledge/skills in all areas of association activities, including: effective verbal skills including presentation skills

- knowledge of technology and application to work assignment
