Job Summary
Conduct manual vegetation control and pole clearing in utility rights-of-way using weedeaters, chainsaws, and hand tools to clear brush to bare mineral soil. Apply herbicides to cleared areas following company procedures and regulations. Perform pre-inspections of power poles to assess vegetation conditions and follow power lines through rough, uneven terrain. Use mobile devices to enter data and document field observations and work completed accurately. Comply with all safety programs, participate in daily safety meetings, and wear required PPE while working independently or as part of a crew in remote, outdoor environments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License (Class C or equivalent, as required by assignment)
- Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within a designated period, if required
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required licenses, certifications, or credentials related to vegetation control or herbicide application, as applicable by assignment and regulation
- Ability to use basic electronic devices (tablets, phones, or computers) for data input
- Ability to follow instructions, safety rules, and standard operating procedures
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of working in a field environment
- Ability and willingness to apply herbicides safely following company training and applicable regulations
- Ability to perform manual labor outdoors in varying environmental conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials that may exceed 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb over uneven terrain, and work extended hours as needed
- Travel to field locations as required by operational needs
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in vegetation management, right-of-way work, forestry, or utility support
- Familiarity with field-based operations, inspections, or utility environments
- Experience working in physically demanding, safety-sensitive roles
