Job Summary
Enforce railroad safety policies, inspect inbound and outbound container trains for seal exceptions, open doors, and trespassers, and patrol perimeter fences to detect damage. Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers, stop and identify unauthorized vehicles on the intermodal ramp, and escort all inbound trains upon arrival. Request emergency personnel for high-risk situations and conduct foot patrols of designated lots as directed. Part-time with potential full-time future; 12-hour shifts. Requires BSIS Guard Card, PC832, exposed firearm permit, and extensive military or law enforcement experience. Valid and current.
Required Qualifications
- Valid and current BSIS Guard Card
- PC832
- BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit
- 40-hr Security Guard Training
- Power to Arrest and Terrorism Training
- Exposed Weapons Permit (if applicable)
- CPR/First Responder training/ certs
- Excellent English verbal, comprehension, and written skills
- Access to reliable transportation with the ability to arrive to work on time
- Ability to arrive groomed, clean, dressed and pressed in accordance with uniform standards
- Basic computer knowledge – i.e.: typing reports, operating basic gate functionality, Word
- Crowd Management techniques
- Individual Client needs/ Sensitivities
- Emergency Egress and evacuation procedures
- Conflict resolution /de-escalation techniques
- VIP Protocol and confidentiality
- Public relations awareness
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%* of the time
- Regularly required to drive, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see (using near vision, far vision, and peripheral vision) to identify and address potential threats or safety concerns
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit while remaining alert to surroundings
- Frequently required to use hands or reach with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level for various reasons, including detainment
- May occasionally require lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 pounds
- Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions including severe conditions as seasons dictate
- Military experience preferred
- Extensive experience in high end security and military or law enforcement
- Bilingual is a plus
- 12 HOUR SHIFTS
- PART TIME WITH POTENTIAL FULL TIME IN THE FUTURE
