Job Summary
Lead development and execution of underwriting strategy and capabilities for personal lines at USAA. Bridge underwriting problems with complex systems engineering to deliver rapid, precise, and market-responsive product offerings. Oversee the launch and maturation of new products and enhanced features, manage post-launch monitoring and compliance, and coordinate with Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management to ensure regulatory alignment. Drive digital-first product development, predictive underwriting tools, and automated decisioning, while communicating strategic value and roadmaps to senior leadership. This role requires quarterbacking cross-functional teams, managing multi-year capability roadmaps, and delivering products that align with member needs and competitive dynamics. The position is office-based with a requirement to be in the office four days per week across listed US sites, and does not offer relocation assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
- 8 years relevant experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Financial Services or relevant military experience
- Extensive experience in developing, deploying and supporting product and/or integrated suite of products
- Experience through agile product development process, managing multiple products simultaneously
- Knowledge and application of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC)
- Creative problem solver with hands on experience in problem framing, qualitative & quantitative research, running product experiments, hypothesis testing and prototyping
- Navigates through ambiguous contexts with confidence
- Ability to break large complex initiatives into smaller manageable features and deliver them early and often
- Proven experience building multi-year capability roadmaps focused on sophisticated capabilities
- Mastery in creating BCAs that justify tech investments by linking AI/model execution to P&L impacts
- Executive communication skills to present data and strategies to senior leadership
- Experience connecting capability roadmaps to strategic objectives
- US military experience or military spouse/domestic partner
