Job Summary
Lead an underwriting team managing an assigned renewal portfolio, ensuring execution of business objectives, profitability, and quality standards. Onboard, train, and develop underwriting professionals while evaluating and administering underwriting authority levels. Review and approve referrals within established limits, providing direction on escalations and coordinating with technical resources. Oversee application of underwriting policy, pricing strategy, and documentation standards across the assigned scope. Monitor trends, workload pressures, and performance indicators to anticipate capacity needs and adjust plans for sustainable execution. Collaborate cross-functionally with Field, Operations, Claims, and Risk Control to resolve issues impacting service and business outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Typically a minimum of eight years of underwriting experience
- At least three years in a leadership or management role
Desired Qualifications
- Professional designations such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
- Familiarity with underwriting platforms, workflow tools, and reporting resources preferred
