Job Summary
Lead and mentor a team of Underwriters, ensuring operational integrity, profitability, and exceptional customer experience through advanced technical expertise. Supervise daily underwriting operations, including risk selection, pricing, and coverage assessment, while monitoring portfolio performance and executing strategic pricing models. Administer compliance with guidelines and regulations, drive continuous improvement by solving root cause problems, and foster teamwork through training and accountability. Partner with Program Managers and Sales Executives to align on growth models and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This remote role offers an opportunity to work with a select group of insurance companies to serve a national network of 4,000 agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years commercial insurance underwriting experience
- 3+ years with direct supervision and/or management of people
- Advanced technical underwriting expertise with a high level of insurance knowledge & underwriting practices
- Data analytics to monitor profitability of products, rate achievement, and SLA's
- High energy, pro-active self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to set and meet goals by obtaining buy-in from management, peers and associates
- Interpersonal skills necessary to achieve desired goals and interact effectively
- High level of confidence, integrity, energy and enthusiasm
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly detail oriented
- Superior organization skills including the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Professional insurance designation(s) preferred
- Insurance license per state requirements preferred
