Job Summary
Manage, direct, hire, evaluate, and train assigned regional underwriting personnel to ensure proper acquisition, retention, and servicing of church and related ministry business. Audit underwriting files for compliance with established standards, state, and federal regulations while communicating changes in practices and procedures to the team. Profitably underwrite new and large or complex accounts, co-direct marketing and underwriting efforts with the regional sales manager, and participate in agency management and policyholder visitations. Resolve policyholder and agency disputes, assist in developing the annual budget and strategic goals, and report marketplace trends to executive management. Ensure accurate reinsurance placement to manage risk exposure.
Required Qualifications

- Must have strong interpersonal and managerial skills applicable both internally and externally with agents/insureds
- Must have strong analytical, negotiation, diplomatic, time management, and organizational skills
- Must have the ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner
- Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate complex concepts both orally and in writing
- Must be able to develop creative solutions to problems and be comfortable working in a fluid environment
- Must be able to lead effectively and participate in leadership development activities
- Must have the ability to make sound underwriting decisions relative to property and casualty acceptance, pricing, and coverage
- Must have a Bachelor's degree
- Must have AU or other insurance-related designation
- Must have five or more years of underwriting technical experience or equivalent/transferable experience
- Must be familiar with church operations
- Must conduct themselves in a manner that will neither alienate nor offend persons within this target niche
Desired Qualifications
- CPCU, CIC, ARM, ARe or similar designation
- Minimum seven years of experience in Property and Casualty insurance underwriting
- Minimum three years of supervisory experience
- Experience in building construction and/or valuation, and in property/casualty risk management
