Job Summary
Assess acceptability of highly complex underwriting risks using diagnostic and systematic analysis. Develop specialized endorsement language and determine appropriate pricing for assigned books based on financial and competitive analysis. Make recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy while analyzing quality, quantity, and profitability of underwritten risks. Markets products through agencies or the brokerage community, maintaining relationships with large producers in the assigned territory. Mentors less experienced underwriters and guides the development of underwriting training. Utilizes advanced functionality in relevant CNA systems to perform day-to-day activities and participates in special underwriting projects and presentations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Professional designations
- Minimum eight years underwriting experience
- Advanced technical expertise, underwriting skill and high level of knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices and procedures
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues
- Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
- Demonstrated leadership skills
