Job Summary
Lead and manage underwriting staff through training, coaching, performance management, and workload allocation across the Western region. Oversee daily operations, evaluate underwriting information to make final determinations, and process policies and endorsements. Develop and interpret underwriting guidelines and FCIC documentation to ensure compliance, while analyzing data to support error resolution and quality metrics. Serve as a subject matter expert by responding to complex inquiries for agents, policyholders, and underwriters, and collaborate with Sales, Claims, and Compliance to resolve issues. Implement strategic initiatives such as ProAgWorks training and process improvements to enhance customer experience.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of six years of relevant and progressive professional experience within underwriting
- Previous agriculture or crop insurance industry experience
- A bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
- Possess the ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of underwriting in day-to-day and strategic work
- Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company's business to proactively respond to changing business environment
