Job Summary
Underwrite and manage a portfolio of professional indemnity risks, applying sound practices to assess, evaluate, and price new business, renewals, endorsements, and adjustments. Build relationships with brokers and clients to generate submission flow, secure new opportunities, and identify cross-sell potential while producing timely quotes and managing the end-to-end renewal process. Make decisions on accepting, declining, or referring risks within defined limits, documenting rationale, and anticipate market trends and legal developments affecting the lines. Assist with strategic portfolio management and promote the company brand within the market.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in professional indemnity or financial lines underwriting and/or broking
- Recognised knowledge of PI insurance products
- Excellent local market knowledge
- Strong professional reputation within the PI market
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to interpret complex risk information, financial data, and statistical analysis
- Sound decision-making ability
- Confidence to make underwriting decisions under pressure and with incomplete information
- Commercial awareness and a financial mindset
- Ability to balance risk and reward effectively
- Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation
- Relationship-building skills
- Ability to develop rapport and trust with brokers, clients, and colleagues
- Awareness of claims trends and legal/regulatory developments relevant to professional liability
