Underwriter OR Underwriting Specialist - E&S Excess Casualty

Job Summary
Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries to support business objectives. Leverage casualty underwriting acumen in risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business. Administer and monitor underwriting rules, insurance laws, and rating manual guidelines while working within broad limits on highly complex assignments. Use risk insights and data models to drive informed decisions at point of sale and serve as a customer industry advocate by offering end-to-end solutions. Collaborate across business units including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting to gain extensive industry knowledge. Coach and develop junior team members while remaining visible in the marketplace to meet with agents and brokers three days per week.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
- 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice
- Associate Degree
- 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
- Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
- Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
- 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1 or more years' experience in the E&S marketplace
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
