Job Summary

Underwrite and service existing renewal books for Workers' Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability lines while analyzing risk to accept, reject, or modify coverage conditions within delegated authority. Evaluate complex exposures, determine pricing modifications based on loss experience, and communicate risk appetite to brokers. Generate new business by making independent sales calls, managing the pipeline of opportunities, and identifying cross-selling opportunities during broker meetings. Assist in training Associate Underwriters and Underwriting Analysts while providing mentorship and explaining the rationale behind underwriting decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Working knowledge of US Casualty lines of business (Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability) including product features, forms, regulatory environments and risks etc
  • Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions
  • Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude
  • Comfort with analytical tools and technology
  • Must be primarily in the office
