Job Summary
Lead program technical strategies and roadmaps for Autonomous Undersea Systems, ensuring final technical authority over design, integration, production, and installation. Define functional, behavioral, interface, and operational system requirements while developing effective and affordable operation concepts, architectures, and solutions for undersea effectors and sensing and surveillance systems. Drive mission analysis, modeling, testing, and operational validation, acting as a decision maker to balance technical and programmatic backgrounds for high-reliability system design. Work approximately three days a week in-office with up to 25% travel to sites including Quincy, Taunton, Fairfax, and DC, reporting to General Dynamics Mission Systems.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ to 15 years of experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance
- Ability to work ~3 days a week in the office
- Up to 25% travel to locations such as Quincy & Taunton, MA; Fairfax, VA; DC; Greensboro, NC
- 4-year STEM degree with 10 years of related experience
- Master's degree in a STEM area with 8 years of related experience
Desired Qualifications
- Proven experience in developing effective and affordable operational concepts, architecture, solutions, products, and approaches in: Undersea effectors, Undersea sensing and surveillance systems, Undersea mission analysis, modeling, test, and operation
- Success on significant programs as an engineering lead/chief engineer, with proven business experience
- Experience in designing, specifying requirements, inspecting, verifying, and testing undersea systems and systems of systems
- Demonstrated understanding of business aspects and strategic thinking
- Balanced technical and programmatic background for decision-making on technical issues
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with negotiation expertise to meet challenging customer requirements with win-win solutions
