Job Summary
Underground Utility Project Manager role focused on leading and delivering complex underground infrastructure projects from pre-construction through closeout. Responsibilities include managing schedules and budgets, overseeing subcontractors and field crews, serving as the primary liaison to owners, engineers, municipalities, and utility companies, reviewing plans and contracts to identify scope and risks, leading project meetings, preparing progress reports, maintaining documentation, collaborating with estimating during bidding, handling RFIs/submittals/change orders/pay applications, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and mentoring junior engineers and field staff.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years of project management experience in underground utility or civil construction
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects valued at $3M–$20M+
- Strong understanding of underground systems: water/sewer/storm, conduit, directional drilling, open-cut excavation
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar)
- Solid knowledge of contract documents, change management, and cost control
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with owners and field teams
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred — equivalent field experience considered
