Job Summary
Install, repair, and maintain water piping systems including mains, valves, and fire hydrants by reading plans, cutting, threading, and assembling pipe sections. Prep and clean job sites, dig and backfill trenches, control traffic in work zones, and perform potholing to expose utilities. Operate hand tools, jackhammers, and vacuums while loading and hauling heavy equipment. Travel to various job sites within a 2-hour radius, meeting at the yard daily and returning the same day. Drive company vehicles responsibly and adhere to OSHA safety standards. Requires 3+ years of journeyman-level plumbing or municipal water utility experience, a valid driver's license, and Class A CDL preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years previous experience in plumbing, piping or municipal water utilities at a journeyman level
- Having experience with water main repairs and installations of pipe sizes from 6" to 24" in diameter
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Ability to prep and clean job sites, dig trenches or pits, backfill, and level ground to grade
- Capable of safely controlling traffic in and around work zones
- Experience with potholing to expose underground utilities
- Knowledge of underground piping systems (storm, sanitary, or water) installation
- Ability to assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using various materials (e.g., couplings, clamps, cement, solder, etc.)
- Skilled in measuring, marking, and locating pipe installations using rulers, levels, or similar tools
- Ability to cut, thread, and shape pipes using saws, torches, pipe threaders, and benders
- Comfortable operating hand tools, jackhammers, air compressors, and vacuums
- Able to lift, carry, and transport tools and materials safely
- Experience and ability to use basic hand tools, jackhammers and jumping jacks
- Able to bend, lift, kneel and stand for long periods of time
- Able to withstand exposure to heat, cold and rain; chemicals and fumes; dust from roads and break up of concrete; cars on roads
- Able to travel to various job sites within a 2-hour radius (meet at yard & return same day)
- Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification
