Job Summary
Underground Operator I safely operates heavy underground construction equipment to install, maintain, and repair fiber, conduit, and utility infrastructure. Responsibilities include trenching, boring, excavating, placing conduit and fiber systems, reading utility locates and construction drawings, ensuring OSHA and company safety compliance, coordinating with crew and supervisors, completing required paperwork, traveling to multiple job sites, and assisting with placing handholes, vaults, and pedestals. Requires outdoor work in varied weather, ability to lift 50+ lbs, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience operating underground construction equipment
- Experience in telecommunications or utility construction preferred
- Ability to read construction prints and utility markings
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, if applicable)
