Job Summary
Perform new construction, maintain, and repair energized and de-energized underground power systems, including installing conductors, operating heavy equipment like backhoes and excavators, and executing live-line work with approved gloving and hot-stick techniques. Lead crew members by conducting pre-job and tailgate safety briefings, train apprentices, and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, tagging procedures, and PPE use while working in confined spaces and proximity to energized equipment. This role requires a CDL, three years of underground experience, and the ability to travel long distances on short notice, including out-of-state assignments. You will work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and storms, with availability for outages, emergencies, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation. Required Qualifications
- Three (3) years of recent underground experience
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Willingness to travel long distances on short notice
- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation
- Comprehensive knowledge of tagging procedures, grounding and induced voltage on energized and de-energized lines using the proper tools and test equipment and understanding of underground services, infrastructure and duct banks
- Ability to work in confined spaces, and in proximity to energized equipment
- Ability to operate a backhoe, bucket trucks and digger trucks, mini excavator
- Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather
- Ability to talk, listen and use hand signals to communicate
- Ability to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Ability to work in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions
- Ability to work in proximity to moving mechanical parts and vibration
