Underground Journeyman Lineman

Job Summary

Conduct installation, maintenance, and upgrades of underground electrical distribution systems, including splicing, terminating, and repairs of primary and secondary URD cables. Investigate consumer complaints and perform repairs on energized lines, operating equipment such as bucket trucks and digger dollys. Execute routine line work without close supervision while adhering to strict safety standards and OSHA regulations. Travel and report for 24-hour standby during storm relief operations across the United States. Requires 3-5 years of recent underground lineman experience, a valid Commercial Driver's License, and the ability to lift 50 lbs in inclement weather.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of recent underground lineman experience
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License
  • Medical Card certified by a DOT Medical Examiner
  • Ability to obtain a Medical Card within an agreed upon timeframe
  • Must be able to work outside 100% of the time
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs
  • Ability to properly inspect PPE and follow Company safety rules and policies
  • Vast experience in the construction and repair of electrical underground systems and Power Lines
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations
  • Experience in working on power lines in various conditions
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately
  • Possess good hearing
  • Must be trained and experienced in basic and advanced electrical principles
  • Possess a working knowledge of customer's specifications
  • Be proficient in all phases of underground line construction
  • Be proficient in splicing, terminating, and repairs of primary and secondary URD cables
  • Be capable of operating equipment necessary to complete jobs, i.e. bucket truck, digger
  • Must have a compliment of underground lineman hand tools
  • Must always comply with proper safety standards/procedures and company work practices
  • Ability to travel and report for 24-hour standby when responding to storm relief throughout the United States
  • Must be able to work outside 100% of the time
  • Subject to random alcohol and drug testing requirements and background checks
