Underground Fiber Optic Laborer

Job Summary
Trench, backfill, and lay conduit while pulling fiber optic cable during underground infrastructure installation. Operate and assist with construction tools, perform site setup and cleanup, and locate existing utilities using maps and markings. Adhere strictly to OSHA policies, attend daily safety meetings, and wear required PPE while maintaining a professional attitude with crew members, supervisors, property owners, and the public. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, lifting materials up to 50 pounds, with Monday through Friday hours from 7:00am to 3:30pm plus overtime and potential weekend shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Position requires physically demanding labor, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials weighing 50 pounds or more
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in trenches for extended periods
- Exposure to construction equipment, noise, dust, uneven terrain, and active job sites
- Strong emphasis on job site safety and adherence to company and OSHA safety standards
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in underground utility construction, fiber optic installation, or general construction is preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn and follow directions in a fast-paced work environment
- Basic knowledge of construction practices and tools
- Knowledge of fiber optic color codes is a plus but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior construction, fiber optic, or underground utility experience is helpful but not mandatory
