Underground Electrical Engineer

Job Summary
Estimate, plan, specify, design, and supervise installation or modification of all underground electrical capital projects. Act as project lead for electrical engineering, automation, and communication services while coordinating power system study activities and completing minor updates to power system models. Develop and review predictive and preventative maintenance programs, interpret test results, and conduct audits to identify deficiencies in maintenance processes. Provide prioritized asset assessments supporting the 5-year capital planning process and utilize Root Cause Analysis to prevent re-occurrence of failures. Review and authorize work permits, develop lock-out-tag-out plans, and assist with supervision of field service contractors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, major in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with accreditation from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Engineer III 4+ years or more of related experience
- Engineer Senior 8+ years or more of related experience
- Proven communication skills both verbal and written
- Extremely organized

- Must demonstrate ability to build team atmosphere
- Working familiarity with RCM and FMEA
- Experience with operation and maintenance of high voltage switchgear (gas, air, and metal-enclosed)
- Experience with transformers (oil-filled and dry-type)
- Experience with other industrial electrical infrastructure
- Working knowledge of power system protection and coordination
- Protection and coordination with SEL and/or GE relaying
- Protection and coordination with SCADA
- Experience with underground mining power systems
- Experience with potash sites
- Control system knowledge
- Experience with GE
- Experience with PLC's
- Experience with Delta-V
- Knowledge and experience with instrumentation
- Experience with field instrumentation
- Experience with PLC
- Experience with DCS control systems
- Experience with project management
- Experience with related programming
- Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code
- Working knowledge on CSA M421 Use of Electricity in Mines for Canadian sites
- Knowledge of Predictive Technologies (vibration, IR, UE, MCA, oil analysis)
- Facilitation experience with RCM and FME
- Development experience with PM procedures
- CMRP (SMRP certified maintenance reliability professional), CRE (ASQ certified reliability engineer), CRL (AMP certified reliability leader), or CSSBB (ASQ certified six sigma black belt) certification
