Job Summary
Underground Construction Technician position in Calgary, AB for a hands-on field role supporting installation of underground electrical infrastructure on the Calgary Green Line LRT project. Responsibilities include erecting temporary supports, pouring concrete for retaining walls, installing structural steel ribs or pre-cast liners, digging trenches, reinforcing and covering them with concrete, operating mini excavators and backhoes, supporting field crews, reading and interpreting construction drawings, completing daily timesheets and required inspections, and maintaining a safe job site. Requires prior underground construction experience, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical outdoor labor, and flexibility to work varying hours. Preferred qualifications include experience with electrical infrastructure or LRT/transit projects, Ground Disturbance certification, CSTS certification, and First Aid/CPR."
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in underground construction, civil infrastructure, or a related construction environment
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a satisfactory driver's abstract
- Experience operating construction equipment including mini excavators, backhoes, and directional drills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labour outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
- Flexibility to work varying hours and days as project schedules require
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings for assigned tasks
