Job Summary
Uncertified Medical Technologist performs standardized clinical laboratory waived and moderately complex testing in Core Laboratory, Histology, and general duties. Responsibilities include daily/routine equipment maintenance, calibrations, quality control, specimen handling, accurate data recording and reporting results in the LIS, troubleshooting instrument issues, prioritizing workload to meet turnaround times, and supporting technical staff. Performs phlebotomy as needed, assists with histology procedures (frozen sections, thyroid FNA; bone marrow procedures), manages send-outs, and collaborates with pathologists/providers. Requires independent work within established protocols, training new employees, and maintaining competency and safety while ensuring timely communication of results and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science; OR High school graduate or equivalent and laboratory training/experience consisting of the following: Successfully completed military training of 50 or more weeks and served as a medical laboratory specialist; OR Appropriate training/experience as specified in 42CFR493.1423.
