Job Summary
Uncertified Laboratory Assistant – Student Trainee joins Dynacare's Laboratory Assistant Trainee Program with responsibilities including pre/post-analytical processing of specimens, data entry for Ministry of Health requisitions, specimen collection and handling, ECGs, and adherence to SOPs and confidentiality. On-site, multi-location role in Kelowna, Vernon, or Penticton, BC; 40 WPM data entry requirement; Medical Terminology and MLA certification in progress; strong English communication and teamwork skills; physical aspects include lifting up to 30 pounds and exposure to bio-hazardous substances.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent data entry skills (minimum 40 words per minute)
- Registered with Thompson Rivers University MLA Certificate Program
- Completion of Medical Terminology course
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment
- Working in a medical laboratory environment and following SOPs
