Job Summary
Conduct food preparation, plating, and snack tray assembly for residents and guests while adhering to sanitation, safety, and nutritional quality standards. Manage inventory control, receive orders, and forecast food production requirements to ensure effective utilization of bulk foods. Maintain kitchen cleanliness, execute infection control protocols, and perform food temperature checks with proper documentation. Communicate effectively with co-workers, residents, and supervisory staff to address concerns and support dining service. Participate in mandatory training, fire drills, and pest control programs. Requires grade 12 education, two years of large volume cooking experience, and a valid safe food handler's certificate.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of grade 12 education
- Minimum 2 years' experience in with large volume food cooking, preparation, and plating techniques
- Must have a valid regional safe food handler's certificate
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language
- Strong knife and preparation skills
- Fundamental baking skills
- Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently
- Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
- Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program
