Job Summary
Install, troubleshoot, test, splice, and repair telecommunications equipment, fiber optic, and copper facilities for new and existing customers. Maintain Key Systems, PBX, and Centrex infrastructure while identifying defective cable and locating underground or aerial lines using test equipment. Respond to dispatches, perform cable fault acceptance tests, and manage installation projects with minimal supervision. Provide high-level support for record systems and proactively educate customers on TDS services including voice, video, and internet solutions. Maintain orderly logs of locate requests and operate vehicles with a combined GVRW over 10,000 lbs. Requires a valid driver's license, on-call availability, and ability to work overtime. Residency within 60 minutes of the Contoocook, NH warehouse is required.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year basic technical telecommunications experience
- current/prior military service with honorable discharge
- 6+ months TDS Telecom Field Service Technician experience
- successful completion of a documented progression plan
- 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, or switch training
- valid driver's license
- ability to maintain DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements in relation to operating vehicles with a combined GVRW (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of >10,000 lbs
- ability to operate vehicles with manual transmissions
- ability to work and make decisions independently with little or no supervision
- ability to be available for on-call/standby responsibilities
- willingness to work overtime as needed
- willingness to reside within a 60-minute driving distance from the Contoocook, New Hampshire warehouse

- Strong technical understanding of fiber and copper plant installation and troubleshooting

- Practical knowledge/experience with computer applications including (but not limited to): Databases, Trouble/Repair/Dispatch Systems, Plant Record Systems, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Explorer, and CD-ROMs
