Job Summary
Monitor activities and behavior of pre-kindergarten age children during and in the absence of classroom teachers to ensure their physical and environmental safe keeping. Assist teachers in supervising learning activities, circulating within the classroom, and providing instruction to children as prescribed by the supervising teacher. Support teachers with transporting children to scheduled activities, preparing instructional materials, and maintaining accurate records of student data and attendance. This paraprofessional role supports staff in an educational or child care environment under direct supervision. Candidates must provide evidence of a passing Para Assessment score or an Associate's degree to qualify for a higher hourly rate.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work
- Effectively attend to the needs of pre-school age children
- Previous vocational training or work experience with pre-school age children in a licensed child care environment
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
