Job Summary
Conduct daily custodial tasks for assigned school facilities, including vacuuming, shampooing, high-speed buffering, window washing, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms, kitchens, and cafeterias. Operate electrical cleaning equipment safely while using appropriate chemicals per State Department of Education regulations. Empty waste receptacles, mop, strip, wax, and buff floors; move furniture and equipment as needed. Secure assigned areas daily by locking doors and windows, turning off electrical units, and responding to emergency situations like spills or broken windows. Maintain cleanliness in storage areas, clean tools after use, report equipment malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance on machinery. Change light bulbs, fill dispensers, and assist with meeting setups. Functions independently or as part of a crew, keeping up to date on district technology and attending required training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to safely and effectively operate standard facility custodial equipment
- Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

- Visual perception and discrimination
- Ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds)
- Ability to occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds)
- Ability to perceive and discriminate strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease, pathogenic substances, and toxic/poisonous agents
