Job Summary
Perform the full spectrum of ultrasound exams including abdominal, pelvic, OB/GYN across all trimesters, small parts, and vascular studies while ensuring diagnostic completeness and image quality. Manage your own workflow in a high-volume outpatient environment by keeping the exam area stocked, optimizing protocols, and documenting accurately in real time within PACS, RIS, and EMR systems. Provide clear explanations and genuine care to patients before and during procedures, and mentor students or new staff on scanning instincts and protocol compliance. Participate in quality assurance and continuing education to maintain clinical standards. No overnight on-call or trauma bays; enjoy predictable outpatient shifts with holidays off.
Required Qualifications
- ARDMS certification in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or applicable specialty
- Registry-eligible with a clear path to certification
- Completed accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Current BLS certification
- Valid state licensure current (where required)
- Proficiency in ultrasound equipment and PACS, RIS, and EMR systems
- Strong image optimization and multi-specialty scanning protocol knowledge
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume outpatient environment
- Strong communication skills with patients, radiologists, and clinical staff
- Commitment to QA participation and ongoing professional development
- Willingness to mentor students and contribute to a positive clinical culture
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of drug and background screening
- Some positions will require a favorable driving record
