Job Summary

Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper patient identification, order verification, and exam preparation. Execute studies per department protocol, review images for quality and accuracy, and complete procedures within acceptable time limits. Assist students and radiology techs with protocols, instruct on positioning, and provide patient education while maintaining infection control standards. Operate equipment and information systems to generate quality images, keep accurate patient records, and follow protocols for coding, charging, and equipment reporting. Maintain ARDMS registry and modality-specific competency. Full-time 40-hour Monday through Friday shift from 8a to 5p at the Good Samaritan Medical Office Pavilion in LaFayette, Colorado.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
  • Health Services BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
  • Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I. (Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience)
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries). Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS). (Primary Children's one of the registries must be pediatric)
  • Health Services BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
  • Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
  • Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
  • Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
  • Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
  • Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Must be available for Full-time (40 hours), Monday - Friday, 8a-5p
