Job Summary
Perform ultrasound procedures and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by licensed independent practitioners. Evaluate patients, verify identification, and explain procedures while ensuring comfort, privacy, and safety during exams. Prepare patients by obtaining history and consent forms, then obtain and record images demonstrating normal and pathological findings. Document sonographer impressions, relays findings to physicians, and maintain clinical competency across newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Monitor patient conditions and medical equipment, participate in performance improvement projects, and assist in federal and state audits.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an ultrasonography program
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registry eligible
- Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry eligible
- Certification/Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Advanced modality registration in Ultrasound Technology by one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- 1 year experience as an Ultrasound Tech
Desired Qualifications
- Associates, America Medical Association (AMA) allied health training program in Ultrasound
- Advanced modality registration in Ultrasound Technology by one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (must obtain within 2 years)
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Picture archiving communication system (PACS)
