Job Summary
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations, prepare and position patients, and review physician orders before conducting studies. Produce high-quality images, assist physicians during procedures, and educate patients regarding their care. Provide age-appropriate service to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations while documenting communications and maintaining accurate electronic records. Conduct equipment quality assurance, maintain clean and safe conditions, and coordinate patient transportation. Present completed images to radiologists, report urgent findings, and participate in on-call, holiday, overtime, evening, or overnight coverage as needed. Serve as an instructor or preceptor when assigned and support emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited or certified Ultrasound program
- Current ARDMS registration upon hire
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire
- Strong ultrasound imaging and patient-positioning skills
- Ability to produce diagnostic-quality images consistently
- Strong patient assessment and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Sound clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain composed in stressful or rapidly changing situations
- Ability to move and position patients safely for examinations
- Ability to operate ultrasound, computer, PACS, and related imaging systems
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and additional coverage when necessary
Desired Qualifications
- One to three years of Ultrasound Technologist experience
- Previous hospital-based sonography experience
- Experience assisting with ultrasound-guided procedures
- Experience working with patients across the lifespan
- Previous preceptor or clinical training experience
