Job Summary
Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper identification, order verification, and patient preparation. Execute exams per department protocol, review images for quality and accuracy, and complete studies within time limits. Maintain ARDMS registration and modality-specific competency while assisting students and other technicians in protocols and positioning. Provide patient education, ensure comfort, and practice appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Operate equipment and information systems, keep accurate records, and follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, consents, and equipment failure reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
- Health Services BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
