Job Summary
Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper identification, order verification, and patient preparation. Execute exams per department protocol, review images for quality and accuracy, and complete studies within time limits. Assist and instruct students and Radiology Techs in protocols, procedures, and equipment operation while providing patient education and ensuring comfort. Maintain competency in all clinical functions, operate equipment and information systems, and keep accurate records of procedures and adverse reactions. Adhere to infection control, sterile techniques, and safety practices while documenting time stamps and image storage. Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, consents, and equipment failure reporting. Shifts run Thursday through Saturday from 6:30pm to 6:30am.
Required Qualifications
- Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
- Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
- Must have completed a minimum of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics
- Options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
- Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
- Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries)
- Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Primary Children's one of the two registries must be pediatric
- Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
