Job Summary

Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper identification, order verification, and patient preparation. Execute studies per department protocol while reviewing images for quality, accuracy, and clarity, maintaining competency in all clinical and technical functions. Assist and instruct students and radiology techs on protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment operation. Provide patient education, ensure comfort, and address concerns while practicing appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Operate equipment and information systems to generate quality images, keeping accurate records of patient information, procedures, and adverse reactions. Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and equipment failure reporting. Maintain proficiency with all clinical equipment and exam types, adhering to safety practices for body substance protection and equipment cleaning. Complete all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires RVT
  • Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
  • Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
  • Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
  • Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Tech I or (SPI + 2 registries)
  • Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
  • Primary Children's one of the registries must be pediatric
