Job Summary
Perform ultrasound exams per protocol, verify patient identification, and ensure image quality while educating patients on procedures. Operate imaging equipment to produce high-quality results, document patient information accurately, and follow infection control and safety protocols. Support and train students and team members on positioning and equipment usage. Maintain ARDMS certification and modality-specific competency. This role is located at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, with a full-time 40-hour schedule including rotating 10-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
- Health Services BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
- Applicable State License
- Currently attending and receiving formal training from an accredited training program or successful completion of formal training from an approved/accredited school or a licensed American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) technologist who has been selected to cross-train in another modality
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
Desired Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience
- 1-2 years customer service or patient care experience
- IV Certification
