Job Summary
Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper identification, order verification, and patient preparation. Execute exams per department protocol, review images for quality and accuracy, and complete studies within time limits while maintaining infection control and sterile techniques. Assist and instruct students and other radiology technicians in protocols, positioning, and equipment operation. Provide patient education, ensure comfort, and address concerns while keeping accurate records of procedures and adverse reactions. Operate clinical equipment and information systems to generate quality images, follow medical necessity and coding protocols, and report equipment failures. Maintain ARDMS competency and modality-specific skills across all exam types.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
- Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
- Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
- Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries)
- Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Primary Children's one of the registries must be pediatric
