Job Summary
Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper patient identification, order verification, and exam preparation. Execute studies per department protocol, review images for quality and accuracy, and complete documentation with accurate time stamps and image storage. Assist and instruct students and other Radiology Techs on protocols, positioning, and equipment while providing patient education and maintaining infection control standards. Operate clinical equipment and information systems to ensure quality images, manage medical necessity and coding, and report equipment failures. Maintain ARDMS competency and adhere to safety practices in body substance protection and sterile techniques.
Required Qualifications
- This position requires RVT
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
- Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
- Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries)
- Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Primary Children's one of the two registries must be pediatric
