Job Summary
Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper patient identification, order verification, and protocol adherence. Review images for quality and accuracy while completing studies within time limits without compromising care. Provide patient education, maintain infection control standards, and operate equipment to generate clear diagnostic images. Assist and instruct students and other radiology technicians on protocols, positioning, and procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of patient information, procedures, and adverse reactions while following coding and reporting protocols. Operate equipment and information systems to ensure quality image generation and complete required time stamps and image storage.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
- Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
- Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
- Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries)
- Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Primary Children's one of the two registries must be pediatric
