Job Summary
Casual (PRN) Ultrasound Technologist at St. Croix Health. Performs a variety of sonographic studies at a technical level with minimal supervision and assists radiologist as needed. Collaborates with lead technologists on exam protocols, enforces ultrasound safety, participates in safety drills, operates and documents high-level disinfection of equipment, and ensures accurate orders, documentation in RIS/EMR/EHR, and charge entry. Maintains ultrasound equipment, coordinates with service engineers/physicists, supports patient needs and exam protocols, and mentors students or prospective students in imaging. Required Qualifications
- Registered by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or registry eligible.
- Registered in Abdomen (AB), and/or OB/GYN, Registry eligible upon hire
- Registered in Vascular or registry eligible within 9 months of hire
- Current BLS Certification (through American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS course)
- 2 years’ experience performing a variety of US studies (Vascular, OB, General, and Breast) desired
- 2 years’ experience performing a variety of US procedures (Biopsy, Paracentesis, Clip placement) desired
- Experience with GE a plus but not required
- Thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy of the head, thorax and abdomen, physiology and ultrasound technology practices and procedures
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure while maintaining quality standards
- Able to contribute to small group projects
- Work under general directions with little supervision
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions stated in medical and radiologic terms
- Use time efficiently maintaining department cleanliness and order
