Job Summary
Ultrasound Technologist responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations following physician orders, acquiring high-quality images across abdomen, OB/GYN, breast, MSK, vascular and fetal/adult echo, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Duties include patient prep, obtaining clinical information, verifying patient identity, operating ultrasound equipment, preserving sterility, adhering to HIPAA, maintaining equipment and PACS data, documenting study details, and educating patients about procedures. Requires ARDMS/CCI certification in relevant specialties, CME compliance, and NYS license requirements; strong anatomy knowledge, positioning technique, and ability to maintain ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
- Active certifications by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or CCI in Abdomen, OBGYN, Breast, MSK, Fetal Echo, Adult Echo, Vascular, Pediatric (RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RMSKS)
- Current CME requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate
- Maintaining superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures
- Excellent patient and people skills
- Knowledge of human cross-section anatomy, positioning skills, and scanning techniques
- Continuing education credits and professional licenses required by NYS Department of Health, ARDMS
- Ability to maintain safety and HIPAA compliance
