Job Summary
Conduct multi-specialty diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and breast studies, while communicating results to physicians and explaining procedures to patients. Operate sonographic equipment independently, manage daily work area schedules, and perform quality assurance assessments and equipment maintenance. Collaborate with radiologists and surgical staff to ensure appropriate testing and maintain departmental protocols. Assist in training new sonographers, participate in committee meetings, and complete required continuing education credits. Maintain HIPAA compliance and represent Bassett Healthcare Network professionally. On-call shifts may be required per staffing protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) or Vascular Technology education
- ARDMS or RVT registration required within 2 years of hire date
- Must be registered in one of the following specialties within 2 years: AB (Abdomen), OB (Ob/Gyn), VT (Vascular Technology), BR (Breast Ultrasound)
- BLS Certification required
- Must be certified in 3 of the following specialties: RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) – Abdomen, RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) – Ob/Gyn, RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist), BR (Breast)
- BLS Certification, required
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Occasional balancing
- Frequent crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, talking, walking
- Constant grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, fit testing
- Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis
