Job Summary
Review medical records and explain procedures to patients while performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations for physician evaluation. Select equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal studies using knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology. Record preliminary results, make measurements, and direct studies to the radiologist for interpretation. Consult on unusual scans, provide written reports and worksheets, and assist physicians with invasive procedures like needle biopsies while maintaining sterile technique. Maintain ultrasonography equipment, recognize malfunctions, ensure quality control, and order department supplies. This per diem role fills gaps for unplanned or planned time off with no guaranteed hours.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited imaging based school
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner
- ARDMS – American Registered Diagnostic Sonographer Registered or completed within 6 months of eligibility
- ARRT – American Registry Radiologic Technologist with certification in sonography RT (R) (S)
