Job Summary
Perform ultrasound examinations under physician direction to identify abnormalities for patient diagnosis, ensuring proper patient identification, order verification, and exam preparation. Review images for quality and accuracy while completing studies within acceptable time limits without compromising care. Maintain ARDMS and modality-specific competency, operate clinical equipment, and provide appropriate patient education and comfort. Assist and instruct students and Radiology Techs in protocols, procedures, and positioning. Adhere to infection control, sterile techniques, and safety practices while maintaining accurate documentation of patient information and procedures. Schedule includes full-time 36-hour shifts on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 1pm to 1:30am at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
- Health ServicesBCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)
- Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I
- Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries)
- Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Primary Children's one of the registries must be pediatric
