Job Summary
The diagnostic sonographer uses high frequency sound waves for medical diagnosis. Performs scanning examinations as requested, adjusts techniques based on findings, and reviews results with the supervising radiologist. Assists radiologist or clinicians in procedures such as percutaneous fluid aspiration or biopsy; conducts routine equipment checks for quality control; able to respond quickly to emergencies and manage patient safety. Maintains inventory of supplies, ensures proper sterilization, and handles image verification and transmission to PACS. Teaches ultrasound techniques to student technologists, adheres to established procedures, and supports coverage for non-routine assignments. Must be able to work a variety of shifts and be available for on-call work within 45 minutes of recall. Possesses RDMS certification and RVT certification/eligibility, with required on-site responsibilities and skill set in ultrasound imaging and radiology workflow.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma with additional skills training (certification)
- RVT within 3 years
- Minimum of three months (RDMS)
