Job Summary
Perform various ultrasound examinations by independently evaluating test results against patient history and previous imaging to identify pathology. Subjectively interpret findings based on judgmental decisions regarding human anatomy, physiology, and pathology, while maintaining complete knowledge of waveform physics to set equipment variables properly. Assist radiologists with invasive procedures, give preliminary vascular ultrasound results to attending physicians and surgeons, and teach imaging students on scanning methods. Maintain equipment, stock supplies, perform quality control, and document procedures. Requires ARDMS certification, BLS, and 1-2 years of ultrasound experience. As a High Reliability Organization, focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. Variable schedule; as needed hours.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification
- ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- 1-2 yrs ultrasound training from an accredited training program
- Must have passed the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Must have passed the abdominal or OB/GYN and physics/instrumentation
- 1-2 yrs previous ultrasound experience (clinical training acceptable)
- BLS Certification
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
